Abstract:
Traditionally the Project Management and IT Service Management domains have been working in different silos within the same organization. The main reason is the lack of any practical solution to bridge the gap between the two domains and benefit from their potential integration. The theoretical background for this effort stems from a mapping exercise between PMBOK and ITIL.

We at Expit have taken this challenge and built a connector between the two Microsoft products, Microsoft Project Professional and Microsoft System Center Service Manager corresponding to the two domains. The intended objective of the connector is to exchange information between the project planning software (Project 2010) and System Center Service Manager. The connector will allow project users to convert project tasks into tickets in service manager directly from project professional. Additionally, the connector will also update project tasks to reflect ticket status in service manager and mark tasks as complete once tickets are closed. Microsoft System Center Service Manager can be integrated with Microsoft Project Professional to provide collaboration features to make communicating and sharing project information easier. When integrating SCSM with Microsoft Project Professional, there is a two way flow of information thus this project will require a two way connector.
Key Learning Objectives:
With help of this session, the audience will be introduced to IT Business management (ITBM) as a concept, a subset of which is the alignment between Project Management and IT Service Management, a key management area for IT departments in large enterprises.
A demonstration of the integration benefits of one main ITIL process (Change Management) with Project management will take place, and a discussion on how this integration can improve project execution visibility especially when it comes to IT related projects will be carried out.
Other integration examples will illustrate the wide application of ITIL and Project Management integration scenarios.
Proposed Demos:  A live demo similar to the following video will be performed
